Black History Month was first celebrated in the United Kingdom in 1987. It has become an important way for remembering important people and events in the history of people from BAME backgrounds. The challenge to defeat racism and fascism requires exceptional leadership from BAME communities and necessitates the coming together of progressive white people with the power, influence and the political will to pursue justice for all.
Black History Month enables us to reflect on the lessons that will enable us to build progressive and better educated multi–ethnic and multi-cultural communities that are ready to face up to prejudice, bigotry and ignorance. Black History Month enables us to foster coalitions that are ready to challenge inequalities and exclusion; helping Britain to be an inclusive and fair society in which every person is able to live their lives without the fear of harassment, discrimination and exclusion and be able to see ethnic and cultural diversity reflected in all aspects of a modern cohesive society.
Join Deloitte in celebrating Black History Month with a panel of esteemed individuals who hold leadership positions. We will explore their journeys as black leaders and highlight authentic leadership from a range of perspectives. The event will be followed up with networking over Afro-Caribbean food and drinks.
All guests must be over the age of 18.
This event will be hosted at Deloitte. YDWC members will be alerted as soon as tickets are available.
